Practicum II (SWK4702Y) course update | March 18, 2020
To all Year 2/Advanced Standing Students, Field Instructors (except ITR Field Instructors) and Faculty-Field Liaisons,
Thank you for your patience as we navigate this challenging time. As you are aware, the situation is evolving daily and we want to ensure that you have all of the information that you need as it becomes available.
Based on a recent communication from the Canadian Association for Social Work Education, the Faculty has approved reducing the required number of practicum hours for current Year 2/advanced standing students from 525 to 337.5 hours. This would apply to students on a regular schedule of September 11, 2019- April 3, 2020. Students on this regular schedule have met the time requirements for the Practicum II course.
Evaluations will be available on the PAS on Friday March 20, 2020 for field instructors and students to complete and submit online through the PAS by April 3rd. Instructions will be sent tomorrow.
With the above-mentioned reduction in required practicum hours, Year 2/Advanced Standing students and their field instructors now have two options:
- Conclude practicum activities and submit the final evaluation by April 3, 2020, or
- Continue on with remote activities, providing that the field instructor approves the remote learning plan and is prepared to supervise the alternate remote learning plan. Submit the final evaluation by April 3, 2020.
For students and field instructors on a modified OR summer schedule AND ITR students and field instructors, we will be sending a separate communication to you shortly.
