The Sexual and Gender Diversity in Cancer Care Program at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre
Location:
Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, 610 University Ave.
Description of the practicum site and student activities:
The Sexual and Gender Diversity in Cancer Care Program (SGDc) is a new program at the Princess Margaret, working with patients with cancer who are also part of the SGD community. You will have an opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of the unique needs that SGDc patients and chosen families bring to their cancer care and interventions and tools that support their care while affirming their SOGIE. The student will assist with a patient support group: “Queermunity” on the second and 4th Thursday of the month. Along with clinical care, the social work student will also have an opportunity to participate in staff training and presentations about providing inclusive care, planning a Pride event, assisting with our social media, and participate in research projects (if interested). Advanced computer skills an asset.
