Who Are We?

Hiseler, Kelly & Associates is a growing practice of mental health professionals located in the historical Harness Factory heritage building in downtown Peterborough, Ontario. We are committed to providing evidence-based, culturally informed, anti-racist approaches to psychological assessment, individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy for folks 16+ on a wide variety of mental health concerns. This also includes specialized psychological services for first responders as well as those in conflict with the law.

What We Are Looking For

  • Hiseler, Kelly & Associates will be accepting one MSW practicum student for the 2025 Winter Term (January-May)
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and experience working with a broad range of mental health concerns for adults
  • Applicants should have a foundational knowledge of CBT, DBT, and stages of trauma therapy
  • Willingness to work with traumatic stress symptoms, injuries, and disorders, as well as interest in pursuing greater training in this area as part of professional development
  • Willingness to provide psychotherapy to first responders, military, and persons with occupational injuries (WSIB)
  • Willingness to provide psychotherapy in person as well as virtually.
  • Ability to work within the policies and procedures of Hiseler, Kelly & Associates and uphold the core values of inclusion and diversity of backgrounds and identities
  • Willingness to work within a hybrid or remote placement model.
  • Previous experience working directly with clients and providing trauma-informed care is preferred

What We Offer

  • Practicum students will work under the direct supervision of one of our experienced clinicians holding a Master of Social Work degree from an accredited university.
  • Weekly one-on-one supervision to discuss clinical work and professional growth.
  • Monthly Group Clinical Case Conference meetings
  • Opportunities to observe, as well as be observed, by an interdisciplinary team of skilled Social Workers and Psychologists.
  • Opportunities for direct clinical practice with individuals, couples, families, and groups experiencing a range of clinical issues including anxiety, mood disorders, trauma and PTSD, personality disorders, disordered eating, addiction, relationship difficulties, and grief/loss.
  • Opportunities to gain experience and skill providing evidence-based treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Somatic Psychotherapy, Attachment Focused Therapy, as well as approaches for working with couples/families including Emotionally Focused Couples/Family Therapy and The Gottman Method.
  • Thorough orientation to Hiseler, Kelly & Associates policies and procedures, online charting and booking software, encrypted video capabilities, and the student role.
  • Administrative support for onboarding and all client related matters.
