Description of the practicum site and student activities:
Working with a multidisciplinary team of Psychiatrists, Registered Nurses, Psychologist, Peer Support Workers and an Intake Worker to provide Concurrent Disorders Service to Black youth 13-29 that are experiencing mental health issues and substance dependence. This includes supportive counselling to meet treatment goals, and family counselling,
Facilitation of treatment groups, facilitations of family support group, referral to inpatient and community services, case management and collaborating with 8 other satellite locations across the province in the coordination of services

This practicum requires the learner to have lived experience as a member of the diverse Black communities. Students who are members of diverse Black communities and reflective of intersectional Black experiences (e.g., 2SLGBTQ+, diverse faith and traditional spiritual communities, newcomers, neurodivergent, etc.) are strongly encouraged to apply.
