Message from the Associate Dean, Academic

Welcome to the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work! A social work education offers you the opportunity to develop practice competence to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable populations. Based on a foundation of social justice, social workers use direct service, clinical, community organizing, policy and research skills and interventions to positively impact others through practice.

Social workers have the daunting responsibility yet amazing privilege to work with a diverse range of individuals, groups and communities with intersectional identities and life experiences across the lifespan. During their social work education, our students will receive a strong foundation in generalist social work practice, develop knowledge and competence in their chosen field of study, and be prepared to use research evidence for practice. Students will participate in educational innovations such as simulated learning through our Simulation Lab and community-based courses to build practice skills. We are proud of our engagement with many communities and community organizations in Toronto, around Canada and around the world.

We welcome you to consider this life-changing profession and to explore the opportunities at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work.
