Code of Ethics and Professional Practice

The professional and ethical performance of students is an essential component of the MSW program. Competence will be assessed in accordance with:

• University Assessment and Grading Practices Policy (2012)
• Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW) Code of Ethics (PDF) and Guidelines for Ethical Practice (2005) (PDF)
• Standards of Professional Practice Behaviour for all Health Professional Students, University of Toronto (2015)

Breaches of the ethical and behavioral standards are serious and represent a failure to meet standards in a professional setting.

FIFSW adheres to:

  • Code of Behavior on Academic Matters (2019)
  • Code of Student Conduct (2019);
  • Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment, Policy (2023)
• Federal and Provincial Criminal Codes
• Standards set by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
