PhD student Kedi Zhao among CASWE’s Outstanding Student Proposal Award recipients
Categories: StudentsFIFSW PhD candidate Kedi Zhao (pictured above, bottom, centre) received an Outstanding Student Proposal Award from the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) during the Association’s annual conference in October.
The Outstanding Student Proposal Award is a CASWE Board initiative that aims to promote high quality social work education and practice and to encourage more students to attend and present during the its Annual Conference.
Zhao’s award-winning proposal aims to uncover the diverse processes of identity building within Chinese communities in Canada who are significantly impacted by the pandemic. The project would help fill a gap in research literature and further guide social work research and practice in immigrants’ settlement and integration in Canadian society.
Zhao is interested in cross-cultural research, particularly through an integrative framework that includes the macro, mezzanine and micro levels, to understand and explore various cross-cultural issues. He is interested in global knowledge production and exchange in social work and other relevant disciplines, acculturation of immigrants and migrants, anti-Asian racism and immigrants’ and migrants’ understandings of specific cultural conflicts, such as cannabis use.
Congratulations, Kedi, on your award!
