Herberth Canas

 

Herberth Cañas (he/him) is a PhD student at the University of Toronto’s Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work. He earned his Master of Social Work from York University, and his BA in Criminal Justice from Toronto Metropolitan University. Herb is a clinician and consultant with a decade of social service experience in the Hospital, School Board, Immigration, Mental Health, and Community Service sectors. He is also a contract lecturer at York University’s Social Work Program. 

 

His current research interests are in exploring the impact that interdisciplinary mobile crisis services have on children and youth, as well as how institutional processes and texts impact the practice of social work in health care settings. He also interested in exploring the prevalence and impact of burnout among frontline practitioners’ in mental health crisis settings.
