Gregory Serieaux-Halls

Gregory Serieaux-Halls is a first-year doctoral student at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work.  Greg holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Toronto, specializing in Social Justice, and an Honours Bachelor of Science (HBSc) degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Toronto. Greg is currently a recipient of the Ontario Graduate Scholarship. His research focuses on how the experiences of anti-Black racism, systemic barriers and intersecting gendered expectations influence mental health and suicidality among Black men in Canada.

Greg also has over two decades of experience supporting marginalized and vulnerable groups within the non-profit sector. He is dedicated to advancing health equity, dismantling systemic anti-Black racism, and increasing access and care for marginalized peoples through his research at the Black Health Equity Lab, policy work, and trauma-informed counselling modalities. He currently works as a Therapist at Time for Us Practice, providing therapy for individuals and couples, and facilitating groups; he also provides residential care for adults with physical and developmental disabilities as a Support Facilitator at Montage Support Services. Greg is also a husband, a father, an avid reader, a multi-passionate artist and a board game enthusiast.
