Destin Bujang

 

Destin Bujang, MSW, RSW, is a PhD student at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto. His work focuses on youth wellbeing, access to education, community-based social work, violence prevention, migration, and the experiences of young people navigating structural barriers.

Destin is the Founder and Executive Director of Black Creek Youth Initiative, a community-based organization supporting youth and families in Toronto’s Black Creek neighbourhood through relationship-based programming, mentorship, advocacy, system navigation, and community development. He has also taught in the Social Service Worker program at Seneca Polytechnic and contributed to research, policy, and knowledge-mobilization initiatives related to education access for youth with precarious immigration status.

His research interests are shaped by both professional practice and lived experience, with a particular interest in how community-based and relationship-centred approaches can strengthen belonging, resilience, and pathways to opportunity for racialized and underserved youth.
