CTV talks to Assistant Professor Keith Adamson about options for people in a mental health crisis who don’t want to call the police
Categories: Keith AdamsonSince April, 5 people, all BIPOC, have died after calling the police for a wellness check. Assistant Professor Keith Adamson spoke to CTV’s Your Morning show about options for people in a mental health crisis who don’t want to call the police.
“We need as a society to learn how to deal with mental health issues beyond criminalizing and shooting people,” said Adamson. “I think this collective conversation about mental health and police is really important. I think what has to change is we have to look at rethinking and remodelling policing.”
