Description of the practicum site and student activities:
The Mood Disorders Treatment and Research Clinic provides both consultation and time-limited multidisciplinary treatment to about 1,000 patients per year. We aim to provide in-person and online/virtual care that is uniquely tailored to address the needs of each individual – we focus on aspects of a patient’s mood disorder and work with individuals to reduce suffering, improve mood, and form social connections, and increase meaning in their lives.
The role of a Social Worker within the MTRC is primarily to provide evidence-based psychotherapy in a group and individual format. Social Workers are also responsible for assisting with brief referrals related to social work concerns such as housing and finances that are impacting individual’s functioning.
