Yahan Yang, (she/her) is a dedicated researcher and advocate specializing in anti-oppressive research, with a particular focus on anti-Asian racism and its impacts on Asian families and youth. Her current PhD research explores communication within families and how Asians resist systemic invisibility and silencing.

Before starting her doctoral program, Yahan worked as a research consultant for NGOs and international organizations for four years. She is currently a research assistant for My Script, My Voice, and Project APPA, and is part of the research teams on the topics including impact of COVID-19 on awareness of anti-Asian racism and the resilience of immigrant women using digital technology to face IPV. Yahan is an active member of the FIFSW PhD Student Association (PhDSA) and the Canadian Social Work Doctoral Student Network (CSWDSN), where she chairs the organization of the FIFSW PhD Symposium 2024 and the CSWDSN Annual Conference 2025.
