Ofir Sivan

Biography: 

Ofir Sivan (MSW, RSW) is a PhD student at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work. His research interests include community practice, history and philosophy of social work, welfare policy, and social work education. Ofir holds a multidisciplinary Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and the Humanities and a Master of Social Work from Tel Aviv University. He has over ten years of experience in grassroots organizing, community development, and adult education, primarily with migrant worker and asylum seeker communities. His doctoral research, supervised by Professor Stephanie Begun, examines how the interplay between information technology and the political economy shapes community-based practices, as well as the potential of community practice to address the consequences of technological advancements in the neoliberal state.
