Michael Wall


Michael Wall (they/them) is a trauma- and violence-informed social worker and PhD candidate at the FIFSW working in the area of child and family mental healthcare. Michael’s research focuses on the development and evaluation of violence prevention policies, risk assessment tools, and trauma-informed services for children and families who have been impacted by violence-based traumatic experiences. Michael’s social work practice and research has been situated in community organizations, academic research labs, and most recently at the Centre for Research and Education on Violence Against Women and Children at the University of Western Ontario. Their doctoral research explores the connections between childhood exposure to violence and youth involvement in the criminal justice system. Beyond their doctoral work, Michael is also passionate about improving access to trauma-informed mental health care, while also decreasing the use of police in mental health prevention and response services.
