Yu is a PhD candidate and a course instructor at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work. Yu’s research interests include immigration and mental health, substance use and social work education in mental health. In her published work, She embraces a range of quantitative methodologies, advanced statistics, and program evaluation approaches to address multifaceted social and environmental factors of the above subjects.
Yu is a previous recipient of the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (2023), Canadian Research Data Center Network Emerging Scholars Grant (2023), and Connaught International scholarship (2017-2022).
Yu is a registered social worker in Ontario and has practiced social work for over ten years in Taiwan, England, and Canada. She had experiences working with people living with mental health issues and HIV/AIDS and people experiencing immigration-related challenges in various settings. Her most recent experience is as the quality assurance and program evaluation coordinator for the FIFSW Talk It Out online counselling clinic that provides training to M.S.W practicum students and counselling to GTA residents.
