As we enter March, a month dedicated to celebrating the social work profession across Canada, I am delighted to extend my warmest wishes to all of you for Social Work Week (March 3–9, 2025) and National Social Work Month. This year’s provincial theme, “Wherever You Are, #SoAreWe,” beautifully captures the essence of our profession and its profound impact on individuals, families, and communities.

Social workers are uniquely positioned to meet people where they are — physically, emotionally, and socially. Whether in schools, hospitals, community services, long-term care homes, social enterprises, or even libraries, we are present in the spaces that matter most, offering support, expertise, and hope. This theme reminds us of the versatility and accessibility of our work, as well as our unwavering commitment to addressing barriers to care and fostering wellbeing.

Here at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, we are proud to be part of a profession that is deeply rooted in values of equity, inclusion, social justice and commitments to truth and reconciliation. It is our enduring mission to take these core values into the work we do as advocates, collaborators, changemakers, and practitioners working to promote wellbeing, safety, and human rights for the people we serve.

Let us take this opportunity to reflect on the incredible contributions of social workers across Ontario and beyond. With over 25,000 social workers in this province alone, we are a powerful force for meaningful social change. Together, we are shaping a more just and compassionate society.

I encourage all of you to join in the celebrations this month by taking time to acknowledge the dedication and resilience of your colleagues, peers, and mentors in the field.

Thank you for your commitment to social work and to a shared vision for a better world.

Warm regards,

Charmaine C. Williams
