Announcing the consultation process for the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work’s new Strategic Plan

Categories:

FIFSW building at 246 Bloor Street WestIt is my pleasure to formally announce the launch of the consultation and engagement process for the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work’s new Strategic Plan.

FIFSW’s Strategic Plan will chart a course for our faculty for the next five years. Our new plan will define our shared purpose and goals and how our unique strengths, resources, and knowledge align with them. It will also provide us with an integrated narrative of who we are and why our work matters. (Click here to view FIFSW’s 2017-2022 Strategic Plan.)

Our new Strategic Plan is being developed during a transformative time for the field of social work, a time when we must respond to new challenges and create new possibilities for the people that this profession serves. FIFSW’s community of students, faculty, staff, alumni, program partners, and collaborators will play a crucial role in helping develop a path forward that has as its goal better lives and social justice for all the communities we reach.

Over the next two months, our aim is to engage as many of you as possible in a consultation process that will inform our new plan. To assist us in this process, we have assembled a Core Engagement Team comprised of representatives across our constituencies, who will have conversations within their networks to gather ideas and feedback that will help inform our plan. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the members of this Team for volunteering to take on this important role.

To manage this important project, we are also working with The Potential Group, a firm that specializes in high engagement strategic planning in academic and community healthcare settings. We are fortunate to have this team of experts to guide us through this important process.

As part of their work, The Potential Group will be conducting focus groups with each of our constituencies, attending existing meetings wherever possible. With feedback from FIFSW leadership, they have also created a survey to collect feedback. Our hope is that as many of you as possible will share your insights and ideas via this form.

Our work over the next few months will shape the direction of the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work for years to come. It will influence the education we provide, the research we conduct, and the impact we have on the communities we serve. The mission, vision and directions that we create in this process will provide clarity for our entire community, including the students, staff, professors, field instructors, and scholars who will follow us.

Your perspectives and your commitment to our shared mission are invaluable to this process. I am confident that together, we can create a strategic plan that reflects our collective vision and sets a path for a future that is inclusive, innovative, and impactful.

Thank you for participating in this  important process.

Sincerely,

Charmaine Williams

Share your feedback on FIFSW’s future via our online survey

We want to know what you value about the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, what makes us unique, and how we should evolve to shape the discipline of social work and make a difference in the world.

Your thoughts and ideas will help shape the next strategic plan, which will outline the overarching priorities for the Faculty’s research, teaching, advocacy and community engagement over the next five years. The strategy will be a framework that describes the purpose, principles, focus and desired impact of our work.

The survey includes 5 sets of open-ended questions. You may answer as many of them as you wish. The responses are anonymous and no identifiable data will be used. Your responses will help us identify themes and core ideas that we will need to explore further in the next phase of our strategic planning work.
