Family Services York Region (FSYR) is both a learning and a teaching organization. Because of our varied and rich programming, volunteers and students can experience a broad range of services and programs in addition to developing their skills in individual, couple and family therapy. Services provided to our student volunteers include:

  • Initial 4-day training prior to beginning at your site
  • Regular Small Group Student Supervision (minimum four hours monthly, or more to meet the requirements of the learning institution)
  • Group Supervision / Peer Consultation (2 hours monthly)
  • One on one supervision regarding learning contracts and evaluations
  • Professional Development Opportunities
  • Opportunity to co-facilitate a group

We provide a unique learning experience that gives students an opportunity to work with an extremely diverse client base, with a range of presenting concerns including symptoms of anxiety and depression, trauma and abuse, family conflict, job/financial stress, gender identity/sexual orientation, grief/loss, mental health diagnosis, parenting, settlement, etc.

Family Services York Region requires that all students be available 2 evenings a week.

We have 2 office locations: Georgina and Richmond Hill.  Currently we are operating in a Hybrid model, therefore students will be required to work in office one day per week.
