Research and Writing at the Graduate Level Workshop
September 9th, 12:30-2:30pm EST
Attendees: Incoming 2-Year MSW, Advanced Standing MSW, MSW-ITR
This optional but highly recommended workshop provides an introduction to strategies for conducting library research and writing at a graduate level for incoming MSW students. The library research portion of the session introduces students to the social work databases and article discovery tools at the University of Toronto Libraries. It will also cover what library resources, services, and facilities are reopening or changing for the Fall semester.
The writing portion of the workshop provides practical strategies for understanding and meeting the expectations of critical reading and writing assignments in the MSW program. Finally, the workshop will cover resources that support graduate students’ writing at the U of T, including the Health Sciences Writing Centre; all MSW students have access to free 50-minute consultations. You can make an appointment by visiting the Health Sciences Writing Centre. The ‘Make an Appointment’ button will take you to Quercus, which will require you to log in with your UTORid and register for a Health Sciences Writing Centre account.
