Practice Consultation for International Social Work Students

The is open to current FIFSW students only. Please note that this is the final session for the academic year. 

Joined by Janany Jayanthikumar, the purpose of the practice consultation sessions is to provide international social work students with an opportunity to receive advice, guidance, and general support from a clinical social worker around how to culturally adapt and navigate issues that may arise in their own practice while on practicum and professionally. This space has been created as a braver space for international students to share and explore their experiences.

Janany has a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto with a specialization in health and mental health. She has diversified experience working in clinical and academic settings, including The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, The Hospital for Sick Children (Sick Kids), The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), The Scarborough Health Network, the University of Toronto, York University, Lakehead University and Seneca College.

As an experienced clinical social worker and educator, Janany has extensive knowledge utilizing and evaluating evidence-based practices. She is extremely passionate about educating the next generation of clinicians, and providing quality clinical care that is equitable and culturally responsive. In addition to her clinical work, Janany teaches, provides clinical supervision, and is a faculty-field liaison at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work and Seneca College. Her areas of expertise include evidence-based practices, program development, simulation and research.
