Join us for a discussion on the provision of MAID since the passing of legislation in Canada on June 17, 2016 using the experiences of University Health Network as a base, while highlighting the key areas where Social Work’s provision of care may align with MAID and reflect on personal values versus professional obligations.

Facilitated by Karen Martin, MSW RSW, Chief Practice Information Officer (CPIO) & Senior Director Health Professions & Practice Innovation for Collaborative Academic Practice University Health Network (UHN).

As Senior Director, Health Professions and Practice Innovation within UHN’s Collaborative Academic Practice (CAP) Portfolio, Karen provides strategic direction for 16 health professions across the organization. Through her leadership of the Director of Practice-Based Education and the Directors of Professional Practice, Karen is responsible for creating and executing a clinical practice transformation mandate focused on best practice standardization and implementation across all of UHN’s Hospital locations: Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.
