Jennifer E. O’Brien, LCSW, is a doctoral candidate at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Chapel Hill School of Social Work. She received her MSW degree from Smith College in 2010. Her research addresses gender-based violence (including intimate partner violence, sexual violence, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking), delinquency, and behavioral addiction among adolescents and adults. Her research interests stem from her clinical, field, and research experiences both domestically and abroad. Her research goals include the effective identification of child victims of sexual exploitation and the evaluation of interventions aiming to ameliorate the mental health and behavioral consequences associated with childhood abuse.
