Alumni Association AGM: Caring for the Care Team During the Pandemic

The Alumni Association of the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work (FIFSW) invites you to join its Annual General Meeting (AGM), virtually, followed by a talk by Heather McDonald: “Caring for the Care Team During the Pandemic”. 

All FIFSW alumni around the globe are welcome to join.

Keynote Speaker:  

Heather McDonald, MSW 

CEO, LOFT Community Services  

About the Talk: 

Heather McDonald and her team created an evidence-based program called ‘Caring for the Carers’ to support staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. This framework, built on social work values, was spread provincially to over 300 other agencies. Heather will share the elements of this program, why they created it and how it was inspired by social work values. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion. 

About Heather McDonald: 

Heather McDonald completed an undergraduate degree in sociology at Queen’s University, with a focus in social behaviour. She also earned a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University, with a focus on community development. Heather has worked in the fields of community health, harm reduction and mental health, including the running of a community health clinic specialized for people with substance issues. She has worked at LOFT Community Services for 15 years, and has been CEO for the past 4 years.  

Heather is a recipient of the National Terry Fox Humanitarian Award and the North American Heart of Social Work Award.
