Description of the practicum site and student activities:
We are a modern yet down to earth clinic with a warm group of collaborative, multi-disciplinary clinicians, offering individual, couple, child, and family therapy. Our busy clinic serves a broad range of clients. We have a fantastic team in a supportive atmosphere with regular case consultation. We offer virtual training for professional development and a monthly clinical book club because we love to learn! Our team motto is: growth is good!
Student activities to develop social work competencies
Direct Service Delivery/Interventions/Working with Recipients of Service:
●Conduct intake/needs assessments
●Provide resource and referral information
●Hold responsibility for a defined caseload/case management
●Develop and implement individual, family, or group interventions – assessment, implementation andevaluation of interventions
●Counsel (individuals, families, couples) – in office or virtually
●Apply best practices as outlined by the organization
●Deliver crisis intervention
Interprofessional collaboration:
●Present cases at case conferences
●Attend staff/administrative meetings
●Collaborate on organization’s projects
●Consult and collaborate with professionals from other disciplines
●Advocate for the client system
●Participate, liaise and represent the agency at community meetings or plan of care meetings or taskgroups
Indirect Service Delivery:
●Evaluate social work interventions
●Prepare and maintain case notes, reports, statistics which meet the organization’s accountabilityguidelines
●Collect and/or analyze data
●Contribute to research and other organizational initiatives
●Develop skills in cross-cultural/spiritual competence
Practicum Requirements:
☒Evening attendance
Some evenings are required to accommodate client schedules but there will also be daytime hours. Prior experience is an asset.

Does your practicum require any previous experience?(
It’s ideal if the student has any related experience in working with clinical populations at a mental health agency/human services experience. Or volunteer experience in service provision for individuals with mental health needs. Is this practicum in-person, remote or hybrid? Hybrid, in person with some weekend work required to accommodate client’s working schedules.
Will this practicum involve direct work or a mix of direct and indirect?

There are stairs at the VP location.
