Lunch & learn is a workshop series hosted by the Office of Student Services and Registrar and our FIFSW Ambassadors. As students prepare for September, these virtual sessions will provide key information to help them start their student journey. Workshop topics and dates are below.  Registration dates are sent in the Incoming Student Newsletters emailed directly to admitted students.  Check back often for new workshops added!

FIFSW Connect

June 13, 2025, from 12:00–1 PM Virtual

FIFSW Connect is a social platform for FIFSW students to stay informed about faculty and university events. To help you get started, we invite all incoming students to attend the virtual workshop on June 13, 2025, from 12:00–1 PM hosted by our one of our Student Ambassadors. You’ll learn how to set up your account and navigate its features to expand your network and engage in co-curricular and social work-related activities.

Finding and managing off-campus housing

June 17, 2025, from 12:00–1:00 PM Virtual

Living off-campus is an option that some students may consider. We have invited a representative from the U of T Housing Services Office to provide detailed information on this topic. All incoming FIFSW students are encouraged to attend this virtual session on June 17, 2025, from 12:00–1:00 PM. You’ll gain practical, in-depth insights into off-campus housing.

Student fees and finances

June 19, 2025 from 12:00-1:00 PM Virtual

Join Margaret Tang, Assistant Registrar, Awards and Records for this online session to learn about your student fees, how to read your invoices, and financial aid resources.

Tenant Topic – Renting with Roommates

June 26, 2025, from 12:00–1:00 PM Virtual

Living with roommates is an important life skill that many students develop during their time at university. The U of T Housing Services Office invites all U of T students to join an online session on  to explore and discuss the pros and cons of various housing arrangements.

Understanding Your Rights as a Tenant

July 10, 2025, from 12:00–1:00 PM. Virtual

In this workshop, which is designed by SSR office, a representative from the U of T Housing Services Office will cover key topics such as leases and agreements, rent, fees and deposits, and how the Human Rights Code applies to renters.
