Profs. Peter Newman, Carmen Logie, and 3 PhD students to present in Durban, South Africa

Profs. Peter A Newman and Carmen Logie will present their research at the 21st International AIDS Conference (July 16-22, 2016), along with PhD students Ashley Lacombe-Duncan, Deng-Min Chuang and Rusty Souleymanov.

Prof. Newman is an invited speaker at the International AIDS Society’s Bridging Biomedical Research and Social Sciences Towards an HIV Cure roundtable. He will also present on studies conducted in Toronto, and Chennai and Mumbai, India about HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) use among gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men.

Prof. Logie will present “Social ecological contexts of HIV vulnerability among internally displaced women in Leogane, Haiti,” as well as work conducted in Jamaica, Lesotho and Swaziland. She also co-chairs a session on Stigma Interventions.

Ashley Lacombe-Duncan will present “High reports of violence in adulthood among women living with HIV in Canada and affiliated risk factors,” conducted with Prof. Logie, as well as work with CHIWOS and Deng-Min Chuang.

Deng-Min Chuang will present “Awareness and acceptability of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) among men who have sex with men in Taiwan,” conducted with Prof. Newman, as well as community-based research from Toronto.

Rusty Souleymanov will present “Characteristics of bisexual men who use the internet to seek sex with other men in Ontario, Canada,” conducted with Prof. Brennan.
