John M. Keesler, LMSW, is a doctoral candidate in the School of Social Work at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York. John has more than 10 years of practice experience in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), which has included behavioral health and administrative positions. His practice experience is the foundation for his research, which focuses on service delivery and quality of life in the field of IDD. John has received several competitive grants and awards and has several sole-author, peer-reviewed publications. His dissertation entitled, “An Evaluation of Individual and Organizational Factors in Predicting Professional Quality of Life among Direct Support Professionals in Intellectual/Developmental Disability Services”, utilizes a trauma-informed lens as an innovative approach to understand the dynamic experiences of direct support professionals providing services to individuals with IDD.
