Iana Ianakieva
Dr. Iana Ianakieva, Ph.D., C. Psych. is a registered Clinical and Counselling Psychologist in Ontario and New York. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (hons.) in psychology and art history from McGill University and Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in clinical psychology from York University, where she currently teaches various undergraduate psychology courses. She is also a Sessional Lecturer in psychotherapy at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Ianakieva’s clinical work focuses on an inclusive, strengths-based humanistic approach to assessment and psychotherapy for individuals experiencing a variety of challenges and seeking to improve their lives, sense of self, and fulfillment. She has an integrative approach to psychotherapy, particularly influenced by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy, among others, to provide individualized treatment suited to the uniqueness of each person. In her research and clinical work, Dr. Ianakieva has experience working with diverse individuals in settings including the University Health Network, Women’s College Hospital, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre – Odette Cancer Centre, York University Psychology Clinic, and University of British Columbia Student Counselling Services. Dr. Ianakieva currently sees clients in private practice, where she also provides clinical supervision to registering psychologists and students in various stages of training.
