Global News talks to Associate Professor Lin Fang about the increase in calls to mental health service providersCategories: Faculty in the News, Lin Fang
Toronto saw a surge in people seeking mental health support over the long weekend. Associate Professor Lin Fang spoke to Global News about the community trauma that has resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic, which is dramatically changing the way we live.
Although a survey earlier this month found that a majority of Canadians feel the pandemic is affecting their mental health, it is now harder to get help, says Fang, as the places one might normally turn to are not available. This has led to an increase in calls to help lines.
