On May 7, Associate Professor Rupaleem Bhuyan was on The Agenda with Steve Paikin to discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on migrant workers, non-status individuals and other newcomers to Canada.
“It’s so unique for us to have a moment where we really are understanding how intertwined our lives are, and to open our eyes to the inequalities that we’ve been tolerating,” she said.
Bhuyan is an affiliate of the Women and Gender Studies Institute and a Fellow with the Centre for Critical Qualitative Research at the University of Toronto. She also co-founded the Migrant Mothers Project to document how immigration policies contribute to gendered inequality and different forms of gender-based violence.
