In ‘Peers in Participatory Research: Some Progress, Some Queries, and Some Possibilities for the Future’, Professor Williams will reflect on community-based participatory research (CBPR) through her own extensive research and engagement in the field.

As community-based participatory research (CBPR) has become more commonplace, the participatory component has evolved to create new and exciting possibilities for inclusion of people with “lived experience”. This talk reflects on the progress made, and draws on my experience as a person engaged in CBPR to ask questions about what constitutes peer research work, who gets called a peer in participatory research, and what empowerment and capacity-building with peers could look like in the CBPR process.
