IMPACT TALK
Featuring: Alexander C. Tsai, Harvard Medical School

Alexander C. Tsai, M.D., Ph.D. is a board-certified psychiatrist, Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital, and Honorary Lecturer at the Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Uganda. Through his research, he uses econometric, epidemiological, and qualitative methods to understand how large-scale social forces such as violence, stigma, and food insecurity conspire to undermine mental health among the poor and excluded in Uganda and South Africa. His U.S. domestic research program examines population mental health in the context of structural drivers such as immigration policy and racial disparities in police use of deadly force. Dr. Tsai serves as a Specialty Consulting Editor for PLOS Medicine and is on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes and the Journal of Global Health.
