This course focuses on social policy research, debates and analysis. Topics covered will include inequality, urban poverty, social welfare, immigration, race/racism, gender and sexuality, Indigenous reconciliation, crime, health, and climate change. Synchronous online seminars will be supplemented by asynchronous lectures, clips and participation in online discussion threads. Students will complete a group presentation, reflection paper or policy briefing note, and a final research paper or briefing book on a social policy topic.
