SWK 4603H – Advanced Social Work Practice with Groups - Elective

SWK 4602H Social Work Practice with Groups or equivalent.

This course aims at developing advanced knowledge and skills in working with groups. The key learning approach will be experiential process in class, integrating practicum experience. Students will participate actively in class both as group members and group leaders.

Actual content will be built around student interests and learning needs, providing opportunity to explore specific group interventions in depth. Possible foci may include therapeutic groups, family groups, community groups, and task groups in organizations. These diverse formats and interventions can be integrated conceptually by the SSLD (Strategies and Skills Learning and Development) approach created by the instructor.

Assignments can include creative options grounded in direct practice.
