This course will inspire and challenge students to learn and engage with various social work approaches for working with and supporting people with disabilities and their families. Using an ecological life-course perspective, students will be encouraged to explore and examine some of the key psychosocial experiences identified from the lived experiences of disabled people in society. The course will be delivered in collaboration with clients and family members from the disability community and enhanced with course readings, first-person narratives, community site visits, and experiential learning. This course is designed for MSW students from all specializations and at all stages of the program.
