Location: Michael Garron Hospital, 825 Coxwell Ave., Toronto

Description of the practicum site and student activities:

Our program serves children, youth, and families struggling with a wide variety of mental health and developmental issues. Students will receive intensive training in long-term family therapy, primarily with young people between 12 and 17 and their parents/caregivers. There will also be opportunities to work individually with youth and parents/caregivers. Hours are approximately 930am-530pm, with an expectation of working at least one evening per week until 630pm or 7pm.

Does your practicum require any previous experience?

We are looking for students with some history of working in a social services or health environment, and who have a specific interest in being trained as family therapists. We need someone who is confident in their ability to hit the ground running, with the goal of taking on cases of their own within the first two-three months of the practicum.

Direct work.
