Tanya Sharpe
Dr. Sharpe balances her duties as Acting Director, EDIIA with both teaching and her ongoing research as Director of The Centre for Research and Innovation for Black Survivors of Homicide Victims (The CRIB). Her work as EDIIA Director will be supported by Faculty leaders at FIFSW and the University of Toronto to ensure community needs related to EDIIA continue to be met. (Visit Dr. Tanya Sharpe’s Discover Research Page.)
As co-chair and member of FIFSW’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee for the past 3 years, Dr. Sharpe has been active in helping develop and provide feedback on policies, practices, and principles related to building an inclusive environment at FIFSW. As Acting Director, EDIIA, she is helping assess current practices, identify priorities, and outline a framework to guide future EDIIA leadership and decision-making at the Faculty. This includes creating a clear, sustainable roadmap for how everyone works together to support and build an inclusive environment for all.
Dr. Sharpe is part of a dedicated and supportive team that is committed to FIFSW’s mission of advancing truth and reconciliation, social justice, human rights and equity within our community. As Acting EDIIA Director, she can help direct you to the academic leader, administrative staff, or institutional offices that can best address your specific EDIIA-related questions or concerns. Students wishing to relay or discuss a concern related to discrimination, harassment, or offensive actions within their program are encouraged to start by reaching out to their program director.
