Please provide a description of the practicum site and student activities:
This is a practicum opportunity with the Office of the Dean of Students at Woodsworth College, working closely with Amanda, Community Development and Student Wellness Coordinator in the Wellness portfolio.
The practicum student will get to bring their creativity and ideas for wellness and mental health into the field and help implement dynamic programming at Woodsworth College.
The prospective practicum student will have a primarily student-facing role engaging with undergraduate students (ages 16-adults), and have opportunities to integrate social work theories into practice in the following ways:
- Plan and deliver wellness-focused programming and psychoeducation workshops in collaboration with supervisor
- Support students 1:1 and offer person-centered, culturally-sensitive resource navigation and referral services
- Promote health & wellness related information and resources tailored to students’ expressed needs and interests (e.g. stress, imposter syndrome, time management, anxiety, depression, financial concerns, loneliness, etc.)
- Engage with students & stakeholders through tabling events at various campus locations
- Explore opportunities to enhance existing repertoire and/or development of additional high impact, evidence-based wellness programming at Woodsworth
- Foster strong working relationships with college staff members, U of T campus partners, student leaders and student staff, community partners, and other stakeholders
- Attend work-related and educational meetings and trainings
- Other responsibilities as relevant to student learning and team’s needs
