Description of the practicum site and student activities:
The Youth Wellness Centre (YWC) is an outpatient mental health service with St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton. We support youth ages 17 to 25. Our team consists of Social Workers, Nurses, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Occupation Therapist, Peer Support Workers, Administrative staff, and a youth council for consultation.
MSW students will be given the opportunity to work under a Social Worker (MSW) as we conduct clinical therapy based interventions. Opportunities include but are not limited to: group facilitation, individual therapy, program development, suicide assessments, and drop in counselling.
