Competitive, out-of-town, modified schedules and International
Opportunities that fall outside of the PAS matching schedule are defined as:
- Off Schedule
- Outside of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
- applicants may be competing with students from other educational institutions, OR,
- require a schedule other than the typical September – April academic year, OR
- are located outside of the GTA.
Competitive Practicums/Practicums located outside the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
A competitive practicum cannot be guaranteed. FIFSW students will be interviewing with students from other academic institutions for a limited number of spaces.
Questions? Contact Sun Ooi, Practicum Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Off-schedule (block) Practicums
Typically, the Practicum course is offered from September to April, with students attending 3 days per week. Occasionally, a field instructor may offer a practicum for a U of T MSW student on an alternate schedule. Practicum attendance is increased to 4 or 5 days per week, and students complete the required number of hours over a shorter duration. These opportunities may be of particular interest to students whose schedule allows flexibility.
Questions? Contact Mindy Coplevitch, Practicum Coordinator at email@example.com.
In all of these cases, students may pursue the opportunities listed below AND participate in the PAS matching process. However, if successful, the competitive match is confirmed and the student does not participate in the PAS assignment process.
|If a student is offered a practicum at a competitive site, as a courtesy to the site, students are required to respond to the offer within one week.|
If you do not wish to apply for one of these opportunities, or you apply and are unsuccessful, you will be included in the regular matching process.
