SUMMARY:Clinical Conversations: A Guide to Clinical Hypnosis for Mental Wellbeing
DESCRIPTION:Alumni\, students\, faculty and members of the public are invited to the next lecture in the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work Alumni Association’s 2022-2023 Alumni Series. \nOur keynote lecture\, presented by FIFSW alum Jennifer Shields\, is titled “Clinical Conversations: A Guide to Clinical Hypnosis for Mental Wellbeing.” \nDate: Monday\, December 12\, 2022 \nTime: 6:30pm—8:00pm EST \nLocation: Zoom \nRegister here \nAll are welcome to attend. \nCertificate of Attendance: Participants will be eligible to receive a certificate of attendance for use towards professional development. An e-certificate will be issued to participants who join us for 80% or more of the lecture time. \nAbout the talk: \nJoin Jennifer Shields\, MSW\, RSW\, for a 1.5 hour workshop where she will discuss the fascinating research behind clinical hypnosis\, and how hypnosis can be used as a tool to alleviate mental health symptoms and contribute to self-care and overall wellness. The workshop will provide an overview of hypnosis and highlight the applications to respond to trauma symptoms\, anxiety\, depression\, and chronic pain. The workshop will focus on the importance of experiential-based therapeutic work and the brain-body connection. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss\, ask questions\, and engage in several practices to enhance learning. Attendees will leave the workshop feeling calm and resourced to practice the tools discussed in the session during difficult times. \nAbout Jennifer Shields: \nJennifer Shields is an Ontario-based therapist and yoga teacher in private practice who specializes in helping clients master emotional regulation\, process trauma\, and increase meaningful connections in their lives.  Jennifer specializes in experiential therapies including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)\, Clinical Hypnosis\, Yoga\, and Ego State Therapy to support clients meet their therapeutic goals. Jennifer is passionate about sharing practical tools to boost mental health through corporate and organizational wellness workshops.
