Rachelle received CIHR specialized training through the Social Aetiology of Mental Illness training program at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health\, and the Transdisciplinary Understanding and Training on Research – Primary Health Care program through Western University. Her research focuses on interprofessional primary health care\, mental health care\, social work in primary care\, and health equity. Supported by CIHR\, she is currently investigating incentives and disincentives that influence mental health care in Ontario’s Family Health Teams. \n  \n  \n  \n

His practice experience includes nearly a decade working with schools\, families\, and community organizations to improve outcomes in underserved communities in the U.S. and internationally. Currently he is working with state agencies in Maryland to improve their capacity to use administrative data for policy and program development. His research interests include the development and evaluation of interventions to support positive youth development. Focus will be placed on the component processes of MI that lead to producing\nclinically meaningful change such as evoking and responding to change talk. The session will\ninvolve demonstrations and experiential learning to facilitate MI skill building. Recent findings\non the clinical proficiency in MI will be discussed throughout the session. \n  \nAllen Zweben is currently Senior Associate Dean for Research and Academic Affairs and\nProfessor at the Columbia University School of Social Work in New York. Dr. Zweben has played\na key role in developing motivational interviewing (MI) techniques that have been employed in\nboth behavioral research and clinical practice for addiction problems. Dr. Zweben has had\nextensive experience in training students\, academics and professionals on how to incorporate\nMI in social work practice. He has been a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of\nTraining (MINT) since its inception. Dr. Zweben is a co-author of a widely used textbook for\nsocial work students and practitioners entitled “Treating addictions: A guide for professionals”.\nA second edition of the book is now in process.
