DESCRIPTION:Black Mental Health Week 2024 takes place Monday\, March 4th to Sunday\, March 10th\, 2024. \nFrom TAIBU Community Health Centre: \nThis year’s theme\, ‘Growth and Reflection\,’ ties in with the final year of the UN’s International Decade for People of African Descent. Black Mental Health Week is the perfect opportunity to raise our voices and bring awareness to the effects of systemic\, anti-Black racism on mental health and wellness. \nWe’ll be coming together as a community\, learning\, and taking action toward creating a more equitable and just society. Ramadan is a time of contemplation\, devotion and practice of self-restraint.  \nCommon greetings: “Ramadan Mubarak” or “Ramadan Kareem” or “Happy Ramadan”  \nReligious and cultural days\nStudent Life has compiled a list of significant religious and cultural days. \nExplore the list to learn more about the holidays of different faith and ethnic groups\, when they are celebrated and how to greet or acknowledge those who observe. \nFor students: Accommodations for Religious Observances \nVisit the Office of the Vice Provost Students website and learn more about Religious Accommodations.  It is the policy of the University of Toronto to work with students who observe religious days other than those already accommodated by current scheduling and statutory holidays. SUMMARY:Grace for Ourselves\, Space for Others: A Day of Conversation About Black Masculinity and Mental Health
DESCRIPTION:FIFSW’s Talk It Out Clinic is co-sponsoring the event “Grace for Ourselves\, Space for Others: A Day of Conversation About Black Masculinity and Mental Health.” \nGrace for Ourselves\, Space for Others is a three-part\, day-long event being held at Verity Centre for Better Living (449 Vaughan Road). The event is focused on understanding Black men\, mental health and the ways of making space in the work being done in Toronto. The March 10 day-long event is a collaboration between Black Daddies Club and its Sunday Dinner Series\, Talk It Out Counselling Clinic\, Black Men’s Therapy Fund\, and Within Eden\, combining inspirational keynote\, panel discussion\, and a meal and dialogue session. \nPlease note that the Sunday Dinner portion of the event is for Black identified men exclusively. All Black men (straight\, gay\, cis\, trans) are welcome. Space for Sunday Dinner is limited and registration for the dinner is required on Eventbrite.  \nThis event is free. \nSchedule\n11:00am to 12:00pm\nKeynote presentation\, ‘Power of Grace\,’ by David Lewis-Peart\, included as part of Verity’s regular worship service. Attendance is open to all. Registration NOT required. \n12:45pm to 1:30pm\nPanel discussion with Big Brother Canada 9 winner & Brothers Who Care ambassador\, Tycoon Carter-Newman\, Andron McKay (Within Eden)\, Jay Grey (Black Men’s Therapy Fund)\, Kwaku Agyeman (Talk It Out Clinic). Attendance is open to all. Registration NOT required. \n1:30pm to 5:00pm\nSunday Dinner\, meal and dialogue space for Black men co-organized by Black Daddies Club\, Talk It Out Clinic.
