DESCRIPTION:The Introduction to Social Work Conference is a key opportunity to learn from faculty members\, alumni\, and community-based practitioners\, and to begin reflecting upon your own contributions to the learning community and to the field of social work. \nAttendance is expected for incoming 2-Year MSW students and optional for MSW-ITR students. Incoming Advanced Standing students who are not attending the Advanced Standing Practice Seminar are welcome to attend. \nIntroduction to Social Work Conference\nSeptember 1st\, 9:00am-12:00pm & September 2nd\, 9:00am-1:00pm\nAttendees: Incoming 2-Year MSW expected; Incoming MSW-ITR and Advanced Standing MSW welcome \nA registration link was sent to all students by email. Season 3 of 30@8:30 launches Wednesday\, September 1 at 8:30pm via @thecribcommunity on Instagram Live. \nOrganized by The Centre for Research and Innovation for Black Survivors of Homicide Victims (The CRIB)\, 30@8:30 is a weekly series of Instagram Live talks that brings the community together to hear from interdisciplinary scholars and community service providers about homicide\, structural inequalities\, trauma and victimization that impact some of our most vulnerable. \nEach week\, Founder & Director Dr. Tanya L. Sharpe\, Associate Professor at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work\, engages leading scholars\, community leaders\, and social work professionals in a 30-minute dialogue that explores how the current global pandemic is affecting vulnerable populations — and how we can ensure we are responding to their needs.
