SUMMARY:Public policy forum: Hear the voices of survivors of homicide victims\, presented by The CRIB and the Canadian Mental Health Association
DESCRIPTION:The Centre for Research and Innovation for Black Survivors of Homicide Victims and the Canadian Mental Health Association\, Ontario invite you to hear the voices of survivors of homicide victims. \nAttendees will learn about an innovative project\, led by The Centre for Research and Innovation for Black Survivors of Homicide Victims (The CRIB) and the Canadian Mental Health Association\, Ontario Division\, designed to explore the impact of homicide on the mental health and well-being of Indigenous\, African\, Caribbean\, and Black\, and Racialized survivors of homicide victims and their service providers. \nThe Survivors of Homicide Victims and Mental Health (SHVMH) project aims to advance our understanding of existing approaches to working with survivors of homicide victims in a culturally responsive manner by determining what supports are needed to best assist Black\, Indigenous\, racialized populations\, and their intersecting identities (e.g.\, 2SLGBTQ+) as they learn to cope with the traumatic death of a loved one. \nThis forum is designed to share insights from the voices of survivors of homicide victims and service providers about the ways we can engage in the provision of culturally-responsive care. Attendees will learn best practices\, build cross-sector networks\, and collaborate on ways to improve support for survivors of homicide victims \nAPRIL 27: Knowledge Exchange Forum\n>Click here to register \nDesigned to share insights from the voices of survivors and service providers about the ways we can engage in the provision of culturally-responsive care. \nAPRIL 30: Public Policy Forum\n>Click here to register \nBringing together survivors and service providers to develop policy recommendations to enhance culturally-conscious continuity of care. \n\nNOTE: Community agencies MUST ATTEND BOTH the Knowledge Exchange Forum and Public Policy Forum\, to be eligible to apply for funds to support their own implementation of Survivors of Homicide Victims & Mental Health strategies.
