DESCRIPTION:Family Planning Among Homeless Youth: The Role of Social Norms and Social Support\n  \nTuesday\, December 13\n12:00 pm – 1:15 pm\nRoom 548\nA pizza lunch will be provided \n  \nStephanie Begun\, MSW\, is a PhD Candidate at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work. Ms. Begun’s practice experiences in reproductive health policy and community organizing prompted her career in social work research and her interest in studying reproductive and sexual health among marginalized youth. Her mixed methods behavioural health research investigates opportunities by which prevention science\, policy\, community-based participatory research\, and technology may work in tandem to positively impact youths’ reproductive and sexual health outcomes. \nHer passion for this line of inquiry is also reflected in her productivity to date. Ms. Begun has worked diligently to publish 25 peer-reviewed articles\, and she has been awarded over $518\,000 in individual and interdisciplinary funding to support this work. \nMs. Begun is also deeply committed to social work education and social justice\, and views her contributions to the professional development of social workers a privilege and an important responsibility. Her vision as an educator is to support students in their growth as ethical and skilled social workers. Ms. Begun has taught in content areas of social policy analysis and advocacy\, research methods and design\, and program evaluation\, and was recently honoured by University of Denver MSW students with a faculty teaching award.
