FIFSW Alumni Association Book Club – March 2019

March 11, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Alumni Association invites you to our third book club meeting on March 11th, 6:00pm at the Faculty. This quarter we’re delving into the late Richard Wagamese’s “Indian Horse”, a novel that traces through fictional characters the very real history of the residential school system, cultural alienation, and forcible displacement of Indigenous peoples in Canada. The story takes us through an Ojibway man’s life, his experiences of survival after being separated from his family, and the solace he finds in playing hockey. We’re looking forward to honoring the work that earned Wagamese the People’s Choice Canada Reads award, and to learning more about the legacy of residential schools and the relationship between sports and resilience.

We welcome all new and returning book club members to signup via the Eventbrite link. If you sign up and are unable to make it please let us know, as we will plan dinner and set-up based on confirmed attendees.

You’re welcome to come with suggestions for our last book pick for our MAY meeting, as we’ll be agreeing on the book as a group during the March meeting.

Looking forward to seeing you all in March!
