Description of the practicum site and student activities:
The primary focus of this practicum is facilitating psychoeducational groups and parent workshops. All students will be co-facilitating groups with a School Social Worker, with the expectation that students will take the lead on facilitating at some point. Groups currently focus on CBT and newcomer support, and knowledge/experience in these areas is an asset. In addition to groups, students will be co-facilitating workshops to parents and/or schools over the course of their practicum. These workshops may occur in the evening and will require the occasional evening availability. Students may also be involved in helping to co-develop workshops for schools and families. There will be lots of support and the student will get the opportunity to work with social workers in a specific area. Travel would be involved and a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
