September 5 SGS Orientation (Optional)
September 6 MSW Fall Orientation (Mandatory for incoming Two-Year MSW Program students; Advanced Standing students welcome)
September 6 Workshop: Research and Writing at the Grad Level (Mandatory for incoming Two-Year MSW Program students)
September 7 and 8 Introduction to Social Work Conference (Mandatory for incoming Two-Year MSW Program students), 8:30am-4:00pm
September 7 and 8 PhD Orientation
September 11
First day of classes in Fall Session
September 13 Summer Session grades available for viewing by students on ACORN/ROSI
September 13 First day of Practicum for MSW Year 2 and Advanced Standing Program (at practicum sites)
September 12-14 Diversity & Equity Workshop (incoming Two-Year MSW Program students first week for Elements SWK4103 & Lab SWK4105*)
September 15 Final date to submit final doctoral theses to SGS to avoid fee charges for 2017-18
September 15 Registration for Fall Session ends; after this date a late registration fee will be assessed.
September 15 Final date to add Fall Session courses online through ACORN/ROSI and waiting list ends.
September 19 Final date to add a Fall Session course through SGS Course Add/Drop form.

September 29 Final date to submit final doctoral thesis to SGS for Fall Convocation.
September 29 Final date for receipt of degree recommendations and submission of any required theses for master’s degrees for Fall Convocation without fees being charged for the fall session.
October 9 Thanksgiving Day Holiday (University closed)
October 30 Final date to drop Fall Session course without academic penalty
November 27 Enrolment begins to add 2018 Winter Session courses for students in the first year of the MSW Two-Year Program
November 8 Fall Convocation (www.convocation.utoronto.ca)
December 8 Last day of Practicum for MSW Year 2 and Advanced Standing Program
December 4-8 Last week of class in Fall Session
December 20 University closed for winter break from Thursday, December 21 to Tuesday, January 2 inclusive

*Note: Students are expected to register for a Diversity & Equity workshop Sept. 13-15 on the day when their enrolled Elements SWK4103 & Lab SWK4105 does not meet. An e-mail message will be sent to incoming students of the Two-Year MSW Program clarifying program activities beginning with the Introduction to Social Work Conference.

 

2018 Winter Session (January 8 to April 6, 2018)
January 8
Classes begin – Winter 2018 term
January 10 First day of Practicum for MSW Year 1 Program (at practicum sites)
January 10 First day of Practicum for MSW Year 2 and Advanced Standing Program winter session
January 16 Final date to add 2018 Winter Session courses online through ACORN/ROSI.
January 17 Fall Session grades available for viewing by students on ACORN/ROSI
January 19 Final date for receipt of degree recommendations and submission of any required theses for March or June graduation for master’s students without fees being charged for the Winter Session.
January 19 Final date to submit doctoral theses without fee payment
January 31 Internal deadline to apply for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) through the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work
February 19-23 Reading Week (no classes or practicum held this week)
February 26 Final date to drop a full-year and/or a Winter Session course without academic penalty.
March TBA First day to enroll in 2018 Summer Session courses offered at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work through ACORN/ROSI. The course timetable is posted on the Faculty website.
March 30 Good Friday Holiday (University closed)

April 10 MSW Year 1 SWK 4701H Practicum I schedule changes to Tuesday-Friday 4 days (28 hrs) per week
April 20 Final date for receipt of degree recommendations and submission of any required theses for master’s degrees for June convocation.
June 1 Last day of the Year 1 practicum
